In order to understand neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy changes in pancreatic islet cell secretion and the impact on the body. Forty neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) and 24 normal newborn infants were tested by radioimmunoassay for the control blood insulin and glucagon, and the blood glucose was measured at acute and convalescent phases. The results showed that children with HIE acute phase insulin was significantly higher than the control group (P <0.01), glucagon decreased, and slow recovery, blood glucose also decreased. Hypoxic children prompted hypoglycemia and islet cytokine secretion disorders, HIE children should be closely monitored blood glucose changes, early detection and as soon as possible to correct hypoglycemia, so as not to further aggravate brain damage
