Social security relates to the national economy and the people’s livelihood, involving the vital interests of the public. In May 2007, more than 50 million pension insurance contribution records disclosed by the Japanese media mistakenly caused an uproar in Japan, a shake-up in the ruling and opposition parties, strong dissatisfaction with public opinion, and serious doubts about the credibility and future of the pension insurance system. All countries in the world have also paid close attention and extensive coverage. On June 29, in the Senate election held by the Japanese parliament, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) suffered a fiasco and the largest opposition Democrat party won the election and became the largest party in the Senate. According to analysis by all parties, the biggest defeat of the Liberal Democratic Party is the failure of pension records. Japanese media think Abe has lost weight in “state affairs” and “people’s livelihood.”
