宁都县第三小学坐落于宁都县梅江镇瑶江村,东临梅江河,西眺翠微峰。校园占地面积23.9亩,建筑面积6461平方米,是一所校园环境优美、文化品牌特色突显的学校,也是全国青少年“五好小公民”主题教育活动示范学校、江西省青少年“五好小公民”主题教育活动示范学校、江西省中小学实施素质教育示范学校、江西省语言文字规范化示范学校。宁都三小秉承“为学生终身发展奠基”的办学理念,明确提出“打造‘情智教育’流派,构建‘生态课堂’模式”的办学目标,为实现这一目标,学校做亮“生态课堂、开放课程、雅行德育、情智文化”四张名片,以“情智和谐”为主线,不断落实学生生命发展和人格健全教育。
