Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defense is a museum based on the history of Hong Kong’s coastal defense. This museum is located on the Lei Yue Mun Battery built in 1887. When Japan invaded Hong Kong in 1941, the Lei Yue Mun Battery had become an important battlefield when many defenders sacrificed heroically during the fighting. The fort was originally the center of the Lei Yue Mun Battery Defense System and has now been converted to an exhibition venue. Other old military installations, such as forts, torpedo launchers, ditch bunkers and ammunition depots have also been repaired one by one and opened up as a trail to allow visitors to see firsthand how they play their role in the Lei Yue Mun Battery defense system.
