Research status (a) the open debate in the 1920s. Woolf’s creative characterization was questioned by the popular British novelist Arnold Bennett, the academic community launched a 10-year academic debate. These two views are diametrically opposed and to a certain extent reflect the confrontation between the neoclassical position held by Bantet’s writers and the romantic stand advocated by Woolf and other writers.
