At present, the lateral reinforcement calculation method used in the design of reinforced concrete beams cannot fully comply with the actual situation. The dangerous section of a beam is sometimes not at the point where the bending moment is greatest, nor is it at the point where the shear force is greatest, but occurs in one section under the combined effect of the bending moment and the shear force. The main reason is that the flexural strength and shear strength of the beam are calculated separately, and the influence of the flexural moment on the shear strength is not considered. The results of such calculations can sometimes be wasteful and unsafe. Based on the Moiré strength theory, this paper presents the calculation method for the strength of beam under the combined effect of the bending moment and the shear force.
