The neodymium isotopic compositions of sedimentary (metamorphic) rocks in the north and south of the Yining plate are analyzed. The relationship between the Tarim plate, the Yining plate and the Junggar plate is discussed based on the neodymium isotopic age of sedimentary rocks. The sedimentary provenance of the western Alashan Range in the northern margin of the Yining Plateau is about 1.9Ga in age and the neodymium model age of the eastern sedimentary rocks is 0.9-1.4Ga, indicating that the Yining plate collided with the Junggar plate orogeny and that the mantle-derived material Join about. The Silurian sediments on the southern margin of the Yining plate come from provenance areas of about 2.5Ga.
