To the editor:Massive pulmonary embolism (PE),defined as PE with a systolic arterial pressure less than 90 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa),is potentially lethal condition with mortality rate between 30% and 60%.1 In addition to anticoagulation,the standard medical management for massive PE is systemic thrombolysis.2 If there are contraindications,catheter-directed intervention or surgical embolectomy is another choice.
