震动世界的1971年4月乒乓外交,由于导致了尼克松总统访华“破冰之旅”而众所周知。与此同时,周总理精心安排的文物外交,却鲜为人知,也未见史料详述。1971年7月9日,基辛格秘密飞越喜马拉雅山到北京密谈时,到钓鱼台之外惟一的考察活动就是参观故宫及出土文物展。如此,基辛格有幸成了故宫关闭五年后得以进宫的第一个外国人。
The April 1971 ping-pong diplomacy that shaken the world was well known as the result of President Nixon’s visit to China. At the same time, Premier Chou’s well-arranged cultural relics and diplomacy are little known and no historical material has been elaborated. On July 9, 1971, when Kissinger flew over the Himalayas in secret to Beijing for a secret talk, the only inspection tour outside Diaoyutai was to visit the National Palace Museum and the Excavation Exhibition. Thus, Kissinger was fortunate to be the first foreigner to enter the palace five years after the closure of the Forbidden City.
