闻一多先生的诗歌理论建设当然以发表在1936年5月13日《北京晨报·副刊》上的《诗的格律》为代表。在这篇论文中他提出了著名的新诗“三美论”:“诗的实力不独包括音乐的美(音节),绘画的美(词藻),并且还有建筑的美(节的匀称和句的均齐)。”闻先生的新诗“三美论”是他经过对中外诗歌、尤其是中国旧诗(古典诗歌)中的律诗(按:指近体诗)的充分研究得出的,可以说是他学贯中西的一个体现。
