Recent studies in the biological sciences and sports science have challenged the hypothesis that stretching activity is associated with injury prevention. It took a long time for a long jumper to stretch his thigh muscles when he was doing pregame preparations. He was feeling stiff on his left leg quadriceps (with his right foot as the starting leg) during the pre-trial jump. He thought it was probably not enough to stretch it, and he remembered the coaching and physician’s teachings on how to get rid of muscle stiffness and stretched the quadriceps extra. However, damage occurred during the first take-off. He felt the severe pain in the quadriceps when he was swinging up his left leg, which led him to abandon the test run and the entire match.
