山里人总希望大山里坪多。在险峻的峰壁中问,镶嵌着巴掌大一块平地,父老乡亲便亲切地称之为水坪村。追根溯源,这个地方原来并不叫水坪,是调来一位个儿不大的小洪先生,希望从这大山里多走出几个有文化的人,便与乡亲们一起喊成了“水平”。唯一有生气的当然就是那所山村小学。一幢三柱两扁挑的木屋,立在突兀的山包上,里面空着的一个坝子,是娃儿们嬉戏追赶玩耍的天地,这幢木屋也就自然成了土坎的一道安全屏障。那时,几个年级的几十名学生挤在一间教室,楼上是寄读生的寝室,一间是师生共用的厨房,剩下的一间就是小洪老师起居和办公的地方,一张山里人摆筵席用的八仙桌旁
