在倡导素质教育的今天,美育中的智育功能愈来愈受到重视,国家教委不断出台新政策新措施来改善美术教育的环境和条件,成绩显著。但是,由于农村教育在中国教育事业中处于弱势地位,尤其是农村的美术教育更是弱中之弱,办学条件差,师资力量薄弱,教学设备简陋,观念落后,重视不足等是阻碍农村美术教育滞步不前的主要因素。而河南省方城县第四高中却扬长避短,充分利用当地的资源优势,走出了一条农村美术特色教学与本土资源相结合的成功道路,对改善我国农村尤其是落后地区的农村美术教育具有极大的借鉴意义。
