元叙事既是跨文化重构的潜在动力,又构成跨文化重构的文化悖论。没有元叙事的参与,不仅意味着放弃文化主体性,而且会将文学史变成史料汇编。文化主体性和文学史的主观性内涵,为汉语“外国文学史”中的元叙事提供了存在的理由。但坚持意义认定与思想展现往往又带来同一性意识形态与诗学形态的简单化判定,导致文学史叙事话语单一、审美功能丧失、过于随意与主观化,异化为意识形态和民族政治的承担者。
