Whether the highway construction will lead to the outflow of regional production factors, or to attract the concentration of production factors in the local academic community there are different evidence and perspectives. Based on the framework of the new economic geography analysis, using the data collected from the 1998 to 2007 urban-level expressway mileage data and the data of Chinese industrial enterprises micro-enterprises, the model DK standard error regression model was used to empirically study the high-speed Impact of highway development on agglomeration of manufacturing in prefecture-level cities. The results show that with the increase of mileage density in prefecture-level cities, the overall industry shows the distribution of “inverted U-shape” after the first “agglomeration” and “diffusion”, and the distribution of the " Different effects. In terms of industries, the development of expressways has a significant promotion effect on the agglomeration of mineral processing industry, heavy chemical industry and technology-intensive industries in the eastern region and the concentration of labor-intensive and resource-intensive industries in the central and western regions.
