随着对外开放的不断深入,尤其是在2001年12月我国正式加入了WTO、成为世贸组织的正式成员以后,我国的高职教育面临着空前的挑战。在国际贸易往来日益频繁、国际竞争日益激烈的情况下,外语、特别是英语这一交流和沟通的工具,在国际竞争中的作用就显得越来越重要了。
