Japan developed a single photon emission tomography (SPECT) device, which is used in conjunction with existing computerized tomography devices and will play a significant role in judging brain death. Brain blood flow, at a glance. SPECT, is a small amount of radioactive material ~ (123) iodine intravenously. The distribution of gamma ray emitted by ~ (123) iodine delivered to the brain through the blood is then detected by a detector and then visualized by a computer. In the absence of blood flow sites, showing no gamma line, which can confirm the presence of blood flow. The University Hospital of Tokyo made two kinds of tomographic contrast experiments on the brain of a brain-dead patient.
