卫生部副部长黄洁夫2012年11月21日在广州表示,中国自2011年3月启动人体器官捐献试点工作以来取得明显成果,相关政策和机构的配套落实后,将有望彻底取代以往依赖死刑犯提供器官来源的情况,中国人体器官移植将在一至两年内取消对死刑犯器官捐献的依赖……据了解,目前中国每年有150万名患者需要通过器官移植来拯救生命,但是,每年可供移植的器官数量还不足百分之一。2010年3月,中国红十字会和卫生部联合启动全国人体器官捐献试点工作,2011年试点工作扩大到16个省份。
