This article describes a low-energy gamma-ray detector system that consists of an end-window flow-gas proportional counter and a preamplifier with bipolar pulses for baseline wander compensation. The proportional counter is a thin-walled aluminum cylinder with a diameter of 70 mm and a length of 30 mm, both ends of which are sealed with plexiglass thin windows. The anode wire is fixed directly on the center of the thin window with a diameter of 25μm gold plated tungsten wire to make the electric field around the anode wire evenly distributed and reduce the end effect and improve the energy resolution.
