Carefully applying traditional processing and interpretation methods to new 3D seismic data sets the prospect for exploration in mature areas of the Gulf of Mexico. It has been found by these methods that large structures are found on the Corsair fault riser (above the fault plane). Corsair is a developing long and narrow fault system that extends 320km along the Texas shelf. Although the system’s downtrend is a mature production area, the fault rising plate has not attracted the attention of the explorer.
