According to a recent statistics from the U.S. Department of Commerce, after the 1990s, the number of mobile phone users in the world has grown at an annual rate of 50%. By the end of 1995, the number of mobile communication users worldwide had reached nearly 100 million. At present, in terms of absolute users of mobile phones, the United States ranks first, with 25.5 million users, and Japan has 8.2 million. The per capita mobile phone ownership rate in many countries in northern Europe is above 10%, and Sweden has reached 15.2%.
