Some martensite nuclei were observed in Fe-Ni-VC alloys by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The structure of nuclei was a special dislocation configuration: the Burgers vector was 1/2 [011] fcc and the one end was Closed hairpin dislocations, and dislocations with a Burgers vector of 1/2 [110] fcc, taxed within hairpin dislocations. They provide the necessary secondary shear for the martensitic transformation.
