黄麻种子没有休眠,但由于种皮透气性的不同,发芽时间有很大差异。一般栽培型品种种子,在正常播种条件下,播种至出苗的天数随温度的不同为3～8d。而野生类型品种种子,由于种皮的弱透气性和吸水性差,田间播种至出苗的天数长的可达60d 以上,发芽期超过30d,因而出苗极不整齐,对作物生产及科学试验都带来了极大的不便。用热水进行短时间处理后可有效地解决这一困难。
