荒煤先生既是新中国电影事业和电影创作的主要组织者与领导者之一,也是颇有成就和影响的著名电影评论家。他在新时期撰写和发表了许多很有见地的电影评论文章,产生了较大影响。在这些文章中,他既强调要发扬艺术民主,尊重艺术规律,也注重对电影文学创作进行评论和倡导;他既对电影史料学和电影史研究予以很大的关注和重视,也积极支持和大力扶持大众影评活动的开展。荒煤的电影评论不仅对新时期国产影片的创作生产发挥了积极的引导作用,而且也为新时期电影理论批评的建设作出了突出贡献。在纪念荒煤百年诞辰之时,实有必要对此进行梳理、探讨和总结,既以此表达对他的怀念和尊敬之情,也有助于进一步推进中国电影理论批评的建设和发展。 Mr. Huang was both one of the major organizers and leaders in the film industry and film creation in New China, and a well-known movie critic who has made great achievements and influence.
