King Lear is one of the four tragedies of Shakespeare, and the motifs and metaphors of the play have been interpreted in many ways for hundreds of years. This paper mainly analyzes the insanity and redemption of King Lear, and explores the double metaphor of the Greek Bacchus and Jesus Christ in this image of King Lear, providing another perspective for the play. At the same time, the double metaphor of the Burnett madness and the Christ-like redemption of this role of King Lear is also an intense spiritual baptism and rebirth of itself and of the audience of readers.
