“五四”新文化运动是以启蒙主义为重心的文学现代化运动。其根本倾向 ,是人性的启蒙和文学观念与表达的现代化 ,所遵循的价值原则是西方近代以来的人道主义和个性主义。今天 ,在改革开放和现代化进程中 ,中国面临这样的现实 ,在物质生活大大“现代化”的今天 ,普遍的人缺乏人的独立意识、崇善的人格追求。甚至连最一般的道德规则都淡漠了。因而需要“五四”式的启蒙 The “May 4th” New Culture Movement is a literary modernization movement with Enlightenment as the center.
