Her first poem, Miscellaneous Poems, was published in 1854 and reprinted several times. In 1869, a second anthology “The Story of the Moses Nile” was published. Harper often recite his poems in the mass meeting speech, because of her poetry in simple terms, full of feelings, easy to accept for the broad masses, played a good propaganda and agitation.
