The performance requirements of advanced tactical self-protection systems such as Rapport depend on the development of threatening weapon systems, ie increased environmental density, frequency diversity and unpredictability of threat characteristics and conditions. These factors compel EWS design procedures to proceed in three directions: Increased signal densities require adaptive environmental management schemes that enable rapid and accurate identification of signals; and frequency diversity requires wideband RF coverage for multi-frequency weapon systems High Signal Intercept Probability Creates Conditions; Combat Electronic Anti-Jamming Requires Complete Signal Program Controllability. Systems that do not combine alertness with jamming devices prove too tedious, too inflexible, and expensive to build. This article will discuss ways to solve problems that arise in Rapport system design.
