St.Joseph lead mining company’s Federal concentrator to solve the copper-lead flotation mixed concentrate ore pulp blending problems, in order to inhibit the lead, SO2 gas is introduced into the pulp, while adding starch to reconcile. St. Joseph Corp. used a three-well Wemco-Fagergren diffusion cell to solve the problem. A small sulfur burner produced SO 2 gas and dissolved it in the slurry to produce a liquid H 2 SO 3. At the same time, starch was introduced into the Wemco diffusion tank from a starch cooker and used as a slip reconcilence tank.
