The Ural Institute of Metal Research has proposed a fast method for calculating the relative quantities of slagging and additional cooling material for converters with a capacity of 50 tonnes in different operating conditions, demonstrating good results when tested in the factory. Based on the differential equation of heating of metal under the impurity oxidation conditions, the calculation basis is as follows:
