喬治·蒲立木敦George A.Plimpton(1855—1936)是一位出版界人士,也是一位慈善家。人們一般都知道他是哥倫比亞大學圖書館的捐助人。然而鮮爲人知的是,有一批數量不多的中國古籍也是因了他,得以入藏哥倫比亞大學善本文稿圖書館。1920年他由太太和兒子弗朗西斯陪同作了一次中國和遠東之旅。當時弗朗西斯還是漢姆赫斯特學院的三年級學生。這批書籍就是這次旅行途中購買的。我們對蒲立木敦的“中國關係”的追溯,把我們帶到了一系列著名的中國人面
George A. Plimpton George A. Plimpton (1855-1936) is a publishing man and a philanthropist. It is generally known that he is a donor to the Columbia University Library. Little-known, however, is the small number of ancient Chinese books also acquired by him for inclusion in the rare manuscript library at Columbia University. In 1920 he accompanied by his wife and son Francis made a trip to China and the Far East. Francis was also a third grader at Ham Hurst College. The books are purchased on this trip.
