How to promote English autonomous learning ability in the age of the Internet

  【Abstract】At first, this paper analyzes the high school students, advantage in the process of English autonomous learning under the network environment, and then put forward the concrete strategy of improving their English autonomous learning ability.

  In the 21st century, the network has great influence on the education, and also has a certain impact for English learners. With the development and popularization of Internet, the Internet has become a landmark communications media after TV media. The Internet network environment may have a big influence on high school English autonomous learning ability
  1. The advantage of high school English autonomous learning in the Internet age
  With the continuous development of network technology and the wide application, high school English autonomous learning has gained broad space.High school English autonomous learning has created the following advantages in Network environment:
  1.1 The information carrier of the Internet have diversity
  The network makes up for the the oneness of traditional English learning .The Internet not only can provide English learners with text, graphics, images, it can also provide sound, animation, video and so on with multimodal learning content, to make learning English be more specific, and it can stimulate the students’ interest in learning English better.
  1.2 Can provide abundant learning resources for high school English learners
  In the process of the traditional English learning, the main way for learners to obtain the needed information is reading books, such conditions make learners obtain information process slowly and they often cannot get enough information. Learning content on Internet is rich, and the Internet can not only broaden the students’ field of vision, also can enrich the students’ English cultural knowledge. Learners can do autonomous learning smoothly.
  1.3 Provide more English language practice opportunities for high school English learners
  Network for learners of English language practice opportunity to make English learners are more willing to participate in the study. Because online learning English not only avoid the embarrassing that can’t answer the question, but also reduce the pressure of communicating face-to-face. It provide free space for the students to help them build learning confidence, and change the rong learning attitude.   1.4 Can choose learning methods and learning progress more flexibility
  The English learning on network environment can adjust the learning flexible time and place. Due to not need following the teacher learning in class, we can choose suitable texts for our learning content, according to our actual levels of knowledge and learning interest in our methods and strategies. We also can learn on my own time, and it can get rid of the fixed classroom, because any place can provide network used as a learning place.In this process, students can truly become the decision makers, the students’ ability of analysis and decision-making ability, planning ability, inductive ability are improved. So that the students’ learning can be more targeted and personalized, and be more efficient.
  2. Learners of English extracurricular autonomous learning ability training strategy
  2.1 Strategy thinking and learning method
  When setting goals, especially for short-term goals, goals must be clear, specific, and slightly higher than your original learning foundation. Autonomous learners not only solve the problem of the target of learning but also solve the problem of the learnning ways, especially to understand the learning methods, using the method of study, summarize the study method to find the most suitable and effective method of study, with developing good study habits.
  2.2 The change of Study ways
  The traditional classroom communication have its, own advantage with face-to-face communication.Computer network environment, s practice after class can involve listening, speaking, reading and writing each link and so on, at the same time, transnational and cross-cultural communication can be realized. For example, Oral communication after class can be done through QQ communication (group), chat rooms or BBS, and problems can also be discussed distantly.
  2.3 The rational use of learning resources
  Learning resources is to point to provide all kinds of information resources related to the problems in English learning. Students’ autonomous learning, meaning construction were conducted on the basis of many informations, so a lot of information must be embedded in the learning situation. Abundant learning resources is a necessary for the condition of autonomous learning. We should dig the computer and network to provide learning resources.
