In the summer of 1918, World War I came to an end. The Austro-Hungarian Navy suffered a series of defeats at the hands of the Italian Royal Navy. Finally, some of the most powerful warships of the Austro-Hungarian naval fleet were forcibly evacuated to Pula in the Adriatic. In order to prevent the enemy ships from entering the harbor to attack these ships, the Austro-Hungarian Empire was flooded and blocked at the entrance to Pula. The Italian navy, unwilling to lose the last chance of annihilating the enemy ships, has repeatedly tried to attack the Austro-Hungarian fleet that had been shrinking in Pulau Harbor but has failed to break the barrier into the defensive Pulau Port.
