美国音乐教育家、音乐理论家和作曲家瓦尔特·辟斯顿(WALTER PISTON,1894—1976)所著《辟斯顿和声学》早在1956年由丰陈宝同志中译出版。在近几年我国出版这一类书不多的情况下,《辟斯顿和声学》仍然修订再版了。可见这本书在我国音乐学者中是有一定影响的。相信许多读者曾经想过,如果辟斯顿有音乐作品的话,能欣赏一下多好啊.可是直到现在,据我所知,才有机会接触到他的两首乐曲的音响资料。
