“Postmodernism” is an art trend of thought in the Western countries prevailing in the 1960s and 1970s. As a kind of literary movement, the postmodernist literature inherited all the creative methods of modernist literature and took this method to a new height. Writers often parody, ridicule and reveal criticisms of reality in the combination of uncertain linguistic signs, demonstrating their destructiveness and disruptiveness. However, at the same time, the extreme creative methods and thinking make the path of post-modernism narrower and narrower. This article intends to analyze the two postmodern contradictory propositions that caused this phenomenon and reveal the reasons for the depletion of postmodern literature.
