On the basis of Halliday’s theory of Systemic Functional Grammar,this paper explores the insights concerning the relationship between Theme and Rheme and aims to analyze the theme-rheme structure in academic texts and shows clearly that identifying theme-rheme structure could enhance students’ reading ability.
