Literary pragmatics focuses on the description, understanding and interpretation of literary texts from the perspective of pragmatics. Foregrounding features and speech act theory are important theories in the field of literary pragmatics. Their application in the analysis of literary works enables readers to find the point of combination of theory and text so that readers can appreciate literary works from a new perspective. “Annabel Lee” is one of the representative works of the famous American writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe.
