大岩桐为苔苣苦科苦苣苔属的多年生肉质草本植物。春末至秋初开花。大岩桐原产于巴西,早已广植于世界各地,是著名的室内盆栽花卉。近年来引进不少杂交新品种,但是不少园艺杂种和重瓣品种不结种子。所以用组织培养方法繁殖杂种或重瓣品种,能够在短期内得到数量可观的盆栽苗。 Ophiopogon is a perennial fleshy herb of the genus Bittergardia.
