(上) 能够理解,“情节”这一概念在现今文学词藻中已远不如“叙事”一词来得荣誉。它常在不得已和不经意的情况下被使用,正式认同它则需要另外有些勇气。“以情节取胜”是一种谈不上奉承的评价,没有人追究它本来包含的确定的合理性。“这部小说没有什么情节”——绝不是对作品的批评,相反倒可能全部奖褒之意已涵蓄其中。问题首先涉及有关真实的观念,两种真实,客观真实和心理真实毕竟是不很相同的范畴,“这朵花是红的”与“这朵花是美的”两类判断的性质难于统一。情节总归更倾向
(I) Understandably, the concept of “plot” is far less honored in today’s literary rhetoric than “narrative.” It is often used last resort and inadvertently, formal recognition of it requires some additional courage. “To win by the plot” is a flattery evaluation, and nobody is held to the certainty rationality it originally contained. “There is no plot in this novel” - by no means a critique of the work, but rather all the rewards of praising may have been conceived.
