The effect of trace Ti and Y on Au-based alloys with 990 fineness has been investigated systematically by means of tensile test, hardness test, scanning and transmission electron microscopic analyses. These experimental results show that trace Ti and Y can significantly improve the mechanical properties of Au-based alloys with 990 fineness because Ti and Y can significantly refine matrix grains, and solid solution strengthening, work strengthening and precipitation strengthening occur during mechanical heat treatment.
