李方玉先生画竹继承了中国文化传统中关于竹的诸多精神与经验的遗产,并在多年的艺术实践中,形成了自己的风格、形式和语言。李方玉画竹的最为突出之处,乃是他并非囿于对真实景物的直接“模仿”,而是“超以象外”,表现的是主观之竹、自我之竹。直言之,他在勾勒自己的心灵图景。我们看到,在画家笔下,竹被表现得千姿百态、丰富多彩、神韵俱足。没有长期的观察、研究、理解与提炼,画家笔下之竹不可能如此神完气足、生动鲜活。
Mr. Li Fangyu inherited the heritage of bamboo’s many spirits and experiences in Chinese cultural traditions and formed his own style, form and language in many years of artistic practice. Li Fangyu’s most outstanding feature of painting bamboo is that he is not a direct “imitation” of the real scene, but rather a “super-imagery” that shows the subjective bamboo and the bamboo of self. To be honest, he is sketching his own spiritual picture. We can see that under the pen of the artist, bamboo is characterized by a variety of forms, rich and colorful, full of charm. Without long-term observation, research, understanding and refinement, the artist’s bamboo can not be so full of breath and vivid.
