According to the weekly Nature, the disease and death of Marie Curie may have been caused by the use of radiography in World War I, rather than the general exposure to the radium element she discovered result. Earlier this year, when Curie was the first woman to enjoy the highest honor in France, was moved to the “Pantheon”, the national mausoleum, to gain an opportunity to analyze the ray content of Marie Curie’s body. In order to prevent radioactivity from exiting the body, excavation of the grave was conducted under the supervision of the French Ionizing Radiation Protection Agency (ORP I).
