建国以后特别是改革开放以后,邓小平对执政党监督的理论进行了积极的探索,提出了一系列新思想:加强对执政党的监督是执政党建设的重大课题,关系到党的生死存亡;明确了监督的关键是领导机关和领导干部,防止以权谋私和滥用权力;强调对执政党的监督必须以法规和制度为依据和前提;以改革和完善监督机制为保障。邓小平关于执政党监督的思想对于中国共产党在新的历史时期保持先进性,巩固执政地位,具有重大意义。
