农业中学和耕读小学办起来后,马上显示了它强大的生命力。干部支持,群众满意,孩子进这样的学校,学习也特别起劲。这说明了党中央提出的半农半读教育制度是正确的。可是,没有多久,有的耕读小学学生就自动不来了。这是什么原因呢?带着这个问题,我们组织了工作组,深入到生产队,访问了贫下中农,他们给作出了答案。有的贫下中农社员说:“耕读小学开始办得还不错,正合我们的心意,可是,我们的教师到全日制学校听了课,慢慢地就不照我们的意思办了。一天到晚上课,生产忙了,我们想叫孩子来家替替手脚,老师就说,这样耽误学习……。”贫农社员李增艮说:“我家闺女,念了一年书,现在连算盘也打不好,开条子、写信,还是去请人,光啃死本本,不学适用的玩艺,念这个书有什么用?”
