火草,一种生长在山坡、箐沟间的野草。曾作为火镰(击石块取火的器具)取火时的引火物。在西南少数民族服饰的“百花园”中,至今还保存着一种古老而罕见的利用火草织成的衣服,这就是火草褂子,也叫火草衣。其形古朴庄重,美丽大方,加上制作工艺繁琐费时,故而十分珍贵。当地少数民族群众逢年过节或走亲访友,都希望自己能穿上一件火草褂来显示自己的智慧和勤劳。姑娘出嫁前要织好足够数量的火草布为新郎家每人缝制一套火草衣作为嫁妆。 Fire grass, a kind of wild grass growing on the hillside, between the ditch.
