I. INTRODUCTION “Ecological Translation Studies ” originated in the early 21st century. As early as 2001, Professor Hu Gengshen started his research on translation theory from the perspective of ecology during the period of his Ph.D. in translation studies at the Department of English Language and Literature, Hong Kong Baptist University. On October 22 of the same year, he initially proposed the idea of establishing a “theory of translation adaptation selection”, and on December 6 of the same year he read out his essay entitled “A Preliminary Study of Translation Adaptation Choice Theory”
