Recent research reports on pain perception and its human brain origin. This article reviews the higher cortical modulation (down regulation) of human pain, with particular emphasis on psychological elements. Pain modulation can include gene therapy, physiology, pharmacology, psychology, and pathophysiology. In psychological regulation, this article describes the following aspects of the regulation of pain from changes in brain function: (a) Will, (b) Distraction, (c) Placebo, (d) Hypnosis, (e) Meditation, ) Qigong, (g) Faith, (h) Emotions. This article systematically describes the operational definition, cortical processing, brain imaging and pain regulation. Although not all studies have focused on the development of pain regulation, they demonstrate a potential approach to the regulation of pain in humans. In the study of mood-adjusted pain, the regulatory effect of musical melody and picture cognition on persistent pain has gradually been found. EEG power localization studies have shown that the main mechanism for the increase of α wave, which may be related to the parietal parietal consciousness and pain perception. In conclusion, higher brain function is becoming the top scientific research area. How to unlock thinking and emotions in the brain coding is the lofty wisdom challenge of mankind. The application of higher brain functions to relieve the suffering of humanity is a humane progress of civilization.
