随着我国煤矿开采范围的扩大,如何提高已开采煤炭资源的回收率和对未开采煤矿资源的充分利用是目前高产高效的煤矿开采所面临的重要问题。当前常用的长壁综采技术和传统的炮式开采技术存在诸多缺陷,而连续采煤机房柱式开采技术有其独特的特点,在开采中可以克服这些缺陷,它可以改善长壁综采技术存在的采、掘连接关系脱节以及因此引起的一系列问题,它在地质情况比较复杂的煤田、边角煤、混合煤田、不规则煤田及地方煤田的开采中应用广泛,是煤矿开采技术上的里程碑。
