The unearthed jade artifacts in Dingling Wanli Tombs of the Ming Dynasty belong to royal artifacts and occupy an important position in the jade culture of the Ming Dynasty. Three pieces of jade belts unearthed in the coffin of the Emperor Wanli are both distinguishable and similar in the aspects of artifact formation, treasures, jade mineralogy, metal alloy composition, and artifact processing technology (including shape and ornamentation). The comparative study of the three artifacts reflects the diversity of culture, technology and other aspects of the same type of artifacts (both belong to the jade belt) of the Ming Dynasty as well as the common features of similar artifacts in the same era. In this study, the first non-destructive testing equipment such as stereoscopic microscope, three-dimensional video microscope, X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and laser Raman spectrometer were used to study the artifacts combined with relevant historical data.
