吴信泉(1912—1992),湖南平江人。1926年参加农会和赤卫队。1930年参加中国工农红军。抗日战争时期,任八路军一一五师团政委、旅政委,苏北军区分区司令员兼政委,中共淮海地委书记。新四军独立旅旅长兼政委。解放战争时期,任师长兼政委、纵队副司令员、军政委。抗美援朝战争中,历任中国人民志愿军军长兼政治委员、兵团副司令员,率部参加第一至五次战役和阵地坚守防御作战,为夺取抗美援朝的胜利立下了不朽的战功。回国
